Monty - The Monson Road Cat
Monty Update - September 2003

Monty was three back in mid-June,
and is now a fully grown neutered
male.

He has made lots of new friends in
and around Monson Road and is vey
keen to show off his hunting skills
whenever he can.

Worst of all was the first pigeon - so
many feathers in the back yard, then
the rat that he tortured for 30 minutes.

At holiday times Monty goes to see
the nice lady at Hilltop Cattery
(Reigate Hill).

He comes back a very reformed
character (think detention centre) -
but soon gets over it.

More pics soon - cat lovers.
How Cute can You Get?
Monty Gets a Collar

Monty is now 4 months old (born June
13th 2000) and today received his first
collar with a bell and name-tag. He
hated it at first and went mad trying to
escape from it. He now just rattles
wherever he goes.

If he rattles much before 6am
tomorrow - the damm bell is coming
off!

Tonight we discovered what happens
when a cat turns his nose up at their
litter tray. We are thinking of putting an
extra tray behind the television in case
this undesirable event should happen
again.

They say cats are very clean..... but
basically they are just covered in
cat-spit.
Monty and his 8 remaining lives

Monty has had an eventfull  week
starting with a mountaineering session
which ended in  tobogganing down the
stairs on a loft ladder.

They say Curiosity killed the Cat, and
early morning mountaineering never
hurt nobody.

I was rudely awoken at 7-10 am on
Sunday morning by the sound of a loud
crash followed by a feline distress call.

On leaping from bed I discovered our
loft ladder at the bottom of the stairs
deeply embedded in the carpet tiles
and the cat nowhere to be seen.

For those UK 30-somethings who
remember "The Goodies" circa 1973,
and the sketch of the giant kitten felling
the Post Office Tower in London, well
I think you might get the picture.
Monty - The Monson Road Cat

Montagu Ratbag Boak is a small black
furry catpuss who has recently come to
live in Monson Road.

He is all-black apart from a small white
fleck on his chest and is only 4 months
old.

He was bought from a very nice lady
who lives in Montagu Gardens,
Wallington and was thus christened
Monty.

If anyone is familiar with the Derek
Tangye books about life in rural
Cornwall in the 50's and 60's then
Monty the Cat was featured in his early
books.

Another reference may be to the
popular UK film "The Full Monty"
about grown men providing popular
entertainment in Sheffield. We we have
our very own version "Monty- the
Fool"  a story about a kitten providing
popular entertainment in Monson Road.

Monty has just had the last of his
injections and so will be allowed out
for the first time on October 4th.

Female visitors to Monson Road are
advised not to wear tights - but it's OK
for blokes I suppose.
