The Garden Page
This page is just a few photos of
our garden, which is 70m long by
6m wide.

In 2001 I very enthusiastically
grew a lot of vegetables, but
pressures of work in later years
meant that I have only grown a few
peas, beans and potatoes.

In 2005, building work on the
extension has disturbed much of
the area immediately behind the
house, but this will be turned into a
patio, ready for Summer 2006.

A new addition in May 2005 was
my large shed/office which is
located about 25m from the back of
the house, and has been insulated
so I can work there all year round.

Latest Garden Update 2001

The vegetable crop is in full
abundance,

At the beginning of June we got our
first new potatoes and radishes. At
the time of writing we have had:

New potatoes
Onions
Courgettes
Marrow
Broad Beans
Carrots
Swiss Chard
Radishes

Still to come are the tomatoes,
peppers, shallotts and peas.
A new addition in May 2005 was
my large shed/office which is
located about 25m from the back of
the house, and has been insulated
so I can work there all year round.

The shed is 5m x 3m and made
from 19mm shiplap board.

The photos opposite show digging
up the old vegetable plots to put
down hardcore and then a concrete
base.

On the left is a solar water heating
array, made from evacuated glass
tubes containing copper heat-pipes.

This system is made in China and
is priced at around £400 for a DIY
kit.

I got mine from Sustainable
Technology Ltd, Maidstone, Kent.
